The local newspaper “Der Teckbote” has an affectionate report about a son of the city Kirchheim unter Teck – Dr. Daniel Lauster. The founding of his research group at the Freie University of Berlin and his “unappetizing” research topics are reported in detail. As unappetizing – with a wink – they mention the general research topic “antiviral substances from lung mucus”. Due to still raging Covid-19 everyone understands the importance of the development of new antiviral substances only the mucus part sounds not so appealing.
Special mention is made of the newly acquired research funding from SPRIND – the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation – Germany on the topic of “broad-spectrum antivirals”. MucosaTec will be spun off from this research project in October 2023.
