This first edition of the founders award will be awarded on June 26th, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. in the beautiful premises of the “Berliner Sparkasse am Wannsee” (Kronprinzessinnenweg 21). An event in this constellation marks a significant milestone for Berlin’s university start-up scene and shows the enormous potential that exists in Berlin. The best nine teams founded last year from the three major Berlin universities will be able to present themselves at the event with an elevator pitch and the three winning teams will be awarded on site at the same time. There will also be a kind of trade fair during the event to give the start-ups as much stage as possible.
High-ranking Berlin politicians such as State Secretary Biel and Senator Czyborra will hold the opening and closing remarks. In addition, the rectors of the three universities will emphasize the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in science in a joint speech.
The decision on the main prize of 10,000 euros (1000 euros for the second and third place winners), which is sponsored by Berliner Sparkasse, will be made by a top-class jury that will meet on Tuesday, June 11. There, all nominees will be asked to present their idea again in a pitch on site.
